Thanks for your feedback! 2010 sponsors took a survey, and non-sponsors came to a focus group, to share thoughts about the calendar project as a whole. In response, this year and next will bring some exciting changes, including:

Streamlined online reservation system.
Increased distribution through Visibility Partners.
The option to participate in the Dance/UP Distribution Program to make it easier for you to raise money selling calendars.
A public Launch Party in September to get everyone ready for the selling season September-January!

Some things remain unchanged:

11″W x 8.5″H folded size makes it easy to mail to donors and out-of-town fans.
Printed calendars available as early as September 1 to extend your selling season.
Additional photo opportunities at a lower price for artists on a tight budget.

Eligibility

for Dance Companies & Artists

For editorial purposes, the $500 Feature Photo placement is restricted to dance companies and individual artists who meet ALL of the following criteria:

Professional;
Nonprofit (incorporation as a 501c3 entity required for dance companies only);
Based in the 5-county Philadelphia region for the past three years or longer.

Sponsors may be asked to show evidence of their eligibility. If you do not meet these eligibility requirements, we still want you in the calendar! Please choose one or more of the other sponsorship level(s) – Directory Ad, Date Listings, Grid/Tribute Photo. Thank you!

for Nonprofits, Businesses, and Corporations

These placements are open to the extended dance community, in Philadelphia and beyond, which can include:

Arts presenters;
Universities & Continuing education programs;
Dance Studios;
Recreational/Social dance groups;
Corporations and Businesses who support and/or serve the dance community.

All sponsors will be reviewed for eligibility and all placements will be reviewed for content. Dance/USA Philadelphia reserves the right to make final editorial decisions.

Distribution Program

New for 2011! Sponsors can choose to participate in the Dance/UP Distribution Program. Send your friends and fans to a central online “store”, hosted by Dance/UP, to buy calendars. When they enter a code indicating you/your company, we will process the order and mail the calendars, and you will get the proceeds from the sale.

This program is still under development. Check back soon for details on how it works and how to participate!

Visibility Partners

Visibility Partners help raise awareness of Philadelphia’s professional dance community and reach new audiences for dance.

Usually an organization, a Visibility Partner agrees to freely distribute a large quantity of calendars (100+) to people in their networks who may not otherwise buy a calendar from participating sponsors. We ask that Visibility Partners do this at their own cost, and/or waive any fee that might normally be associated with this distribution.

2010 Visibility Partners include the Arts & Business Council of Greater Philadelphia; Philadelphia’s High School for the Creative and Performing Arts; How Philly Moves; the International Association of Blacks in Dance during their 22nd annual conference hosted by Philadanco; The Mayor’s Cultural Advisory Committee; & other groups in Philadelphia and beyond.

We are looking for more partners! An overwhelming majority of calendar sponsors who responded to the 2010 survey indicated that the Visibility Partner program is the most valuable aspect of this project. So in 2011, Dance/UP aims to increase distribution through this program to 2,000+ calendars.

Digital Guidelines for Photos

Performance shots preferred.

Please provide 3 different photos for curatorial purposes. Dance/USA Philadelphia reserves final image selection rights.

Sponsor must secure all rights to the use of the image. Collage or digitally manipulated images subject to editorial approval. No Nudity. No Text.

Acceptable photo formats: TIF, JPG, or PDF.

Photos in all formats can be CMYK or grayscale.
Resolution must be at least 300dpi at 100% scale.

Print Sizes:

Feature Photo will be sized to fit 7.5″H x 10.5″W.
Grid/Tribute Photo will be sized to fit 2.5″H x 2″W.
Directory Logo/Photo will be sized to fit 1″ square.
